Iron Man in 1964
Is Iron Man the daylight analogue to Batman’s night? Or is it that Don Heck has drawn the series as a rollicking adventure comic — James Bond, but in an iron suit. Trying to think about why Iron Man is so much more appealing to me than Hulk or Thor.
The still-meager supporting character menagerie is superior to Thor, but not quite at the level of Spider-Man. The permanent rogues gallery is relatively weak (yes, I know that The Mandarin is well-loved), but it’s the supporting cast, temporary villains, and drop-ins that shine.
Hawkeye! Black Widow! Captain America! This series is basically Avengers part II in this nascent stage.
Not an incredibly large amount of things to say in this nascent stage.
