Captain America in 1967

Let’s run through the positives:

• Classic writer and artist pairing of Lee and Kirby.
• Stories themselves are solid, and represent a classic era for the character.
• SHIELD integration into the series is just-right.
• Cap’s overarching story hasn’t hit the same kind of lull we saw with X-Men, which launched at about the same time.

And now the one negative:

• There’s not the right oomph yet. There’s that x-factor I’m just not seeing, but I feel like we’re leaning on the precipice of it. It just needs that critical shot of comics melodrama, and it’s “Agent 13” leaning on the edge of it.

We’re so, so close to hitting a formula that will rocket this series forward.
