I’d like to not be a sucky bass and guitar player, so I’ve been using Rocksmith to improve my skills. The basic gist is that, with Rocksmith, you can plug your guitar into your PC or gaming console, and the cord converts the sound to signals that the console can interpret.
With this technology, the game interprets your playing, allowing you to measure your success against real music. I have a ton of songs in the game, but the key ones I want to learn are below. Learning those represents my ultimate goal. In the meantime, I’m also going to learn some other cool music.
Follow along to chart my successes (and failures)!
Rhythm Guitar
I am truly wretched at playing rhythm. No excuses here. I need to improve.
One day I’d like to play:
- Queen – We Will Rock You
- David Bowie – Moonage Daydream
- Wolfmother – Woman
Lead Guitar
I am marginally bad at playing lead. I can hold it down though, when needed
One day I’d like to play:
- KISS – Love Gun (that solo…)
- Alice in Chains – Down in a Hole
- Smashing Pumpkins – Tonight, Tonight
Bass Guitar
I’m actually a decent bassist, due to having taken a year of classes in the past.
One day I’d like to play:
- Rush – Tom Sawyer
- Faith No More – Epic
- Duran Duran – Rio
