Still yellow-green belt…
I was initially planning on getting us to the point where we could test in April, but the timeline just got too far ahead of us.
In our dojang, you need to hit thirty practices until you can test, and tests are every other month. We’re traditionally a twice-a-week family, which puts us on a four month test pace.
Alas, we had spring break and some travel, so we’ve lost a lot of weekends. At this point, it’ll be June before we can test. Green belt will be nice because that introduces back kicks.
As far as I can gauge, this appears to be the big new additions in each phase (outside the tuul):
- White: Basic stuff
- Yellow: Rear leg kicks
- Yellow-Green: L-stance to walking-stance moves
- Green: Back kicks
- Green-Blue: I dunno…
- Blue: Sparring
…and so on. My now-seven year old is painfully ready to spar. At this pace, we’re looking at late winter for that.
I am in no hurry for that, but I would like to get the green belt test out of the way and move beyond Do San. Really sick of practicing that one over and over again.
