The Incredible Hulk in 1965
Oh lord, another year of Hulk to read. How can the same team behind Spider also be churning out this stuff? Hulk/Banner is picked up by a Soviet ship. Hulk/Banner tries to escape to the US. Meanwhile, the US military believes that Dr. Banner has defected and is looking to share his gamma secrets with the USSR. That overall plot synopsis could be executed well, in theory. Not so much in reality, though.
The crux of the plot relies on a device called the Absorbatron that The Leader (one of Hulk’s big bads) is trying to get ahold of. Rick Jones reveals Banner’s secret identity at the highest level of government, and Banner is continuously given second chances to escape military custody. Or something or other.
Am I entirely alone here in not enjoying this? What other purportedly AAA heroes would regularly get upstaged by Sub-Mariner in a shared comic?
